PostHeaderIcon U7's Rogues & Rebels reports

Oakworth 2 - 0 Sutton Rogues

MOM: - Archie H
The score line does nothing to reflect Sutton's dominance of this game where both goals came in the opening 5 minutes. Having recovered from that sucker-punch the yellows laid siege to the Oakworth goal, with only a supreme effort from the home goalie keeping the the yellows to zero.

Well done to all the boys.

Shipley 7 - 3 Sutton Rebels

Goals:- Harry D, Fergus C, Ben S
MOM:- Harry D

Another game in which the score line did not represent the balance of play or the effort on display from the Sutton boys. The yellows dominated the opening 20 minutes and went 1-0 up after a barrelling run and shot from Harry D (who was playing centre-half at the time!). The yellows peppered the home team goal, hitting the woodwork, firing just wide on numerous occasions or seeing the Shipley goalie get a flailing limb on the ball to keep it out. The home team hit back with 2 goals before a long ball down the middle from Bradley H saw Fergus C round the 'keeper and fire home to level the match.
In freezing conditions the yellows continued to try and play their neat brand of football which would ultimately be their downfall against a more direct and physical Shipley team. The home teams' approach saw them run into a 6-2 lead before Ben S pulled a goal back with a neat finish in the area. Shipley completed the scoring to make the final result, a harsh, 7-3.

Well done to all the boys

PostHeaderIcon Sutton Juniors U7A Match reports - 28/01/12

Embsay Juniors u7 v Sutton Juniors u7A (DFL League Game)

After a break of 6 weeks Sutton were into their stride from the whistle with their customary free-flowing football. The 1st half was more or less played exclusively in and around the home team penalty area. The lively Matthew Broadbent had 3 goal bound efforts all blocked by the resilient Embsay defence in the 1st 10 minutes. One of numerous corners saw the away side finally convert their many chances into a goal when Broadbent put a ball across the penalty area for Daniel Mason to calmly slot into the back of the net. Both Tommy Davis and Sam Benson were showing great composure and clever passing on the pitch. Further chances came for Aidan Lee, Stan Lloyd, Daniel Mason and Matthew Broadbent but the scoreline remained 1-0 at half-time. The 2nd half continued as the 1st half with the yellow and blacks showing clever movement down the wings. Aidan Lee made the scoreline 2-0 when an improvised 20 yard shot off his knee found the back of the goal. Stan Lloyd then further increased the lead when a clever turn saw him turn and chip the ball over the static keeper for a fine finish. Great support player during the game from William Bell, Flynn Weller and Addison Willis.

Final Score
Embsay Juniors u7 0 Sutton Juniors u7A 3

Embsay Juniors u7 v Sutton Juniors u7A (Friendly Game)

As per the 1st game Sutton dominated possession even though they had less players on the pitch than the opposition. Callum Filkin was showing good touches playing upfront with William Bell, Aidan Lee and Sam Benson dominating the midfield. Flynn Weller and Tommy Davis were proving to be a good partnership in defence stopping any Embsay attacks quickly. Stan Lloyd made it 1-0 with a shot in the bottom right hand corner and then added another goal with the best finish of the day when a wicked drive from the right hand side of the penalty area fizzed into the top left hand corner. It was nearly 3-0 when Daniel Mason, playing a dual role of goalkeeper and outfield player, had an effort hit the post. Just before the end William Bell summed up the Sutton spirit when he raced the length of the pitch back into defence to clear a dangerous Embsay attack.

Final Score
Embsay Juniors u7 0 Sutton Juniors u7A 2

Players of the Day were Daniel Mason and Aidan Lee for fantastic energy and storming midfield runs with special mention also for Stan Lloyd.

PostHeaderIcon U12's into County Cup quarter finals

Sutton u12A v Campion
Our U12 team were in County Cup action again over the weekend. The match, played at Glusburn School was a one sided affair with Sutton winning 9 - 0 to move into the last eight.
Sutton started the game very strong with the wind at their back pushing Campion back towards their own goal , a good corner from Toby Jeffery was half cleared by the Campion defence , the ball drop to Tom Oddy who smashed the ball into the Campion net ,more pressure from the rascals forced several corners one a great header from Ewan Bailey to make it 2 -0 this was followed shortly by a goalmouth scramble which the Campion defence cleared only for Dan Bradbury to hit the ball back into the Campion goal area and it was deflected into the Campion net to make it 3-0, the 4th goal soon followed an other corner was half cleared by the Campion defence, Olly Howard latched onto the ball  quickly turned and curled the ball into the Campion net to make it 4-0 , Campion could not get the ball out of their half of the pitch and were 5-0 down when Matthew Phillips shot passed the Campion goalkeeper, the rascals scored again when Toby Jeffery curled the ball into the Campion net straight from a corner to make it 6-0 at half-time.

The second half started with sutton playing against the wind and were soon further a head when a great run a shot from Ben Clarkson made it 7-0 , the rascals started to pass the ball around and went 8-0 up when a mis-kick from the Campoin goalkeeper fell to the feet on Matthew Phillips who blasted the ball into the Campion net , Campion had very few chances despite playing with the wind in the second half they could not get passed the rascals defence , with only a few minutes left in the match an-other corner from Toby Jeffery picked out Ben Clarkson who blasted the ball into the Campion net to make the final score 9-0 to the rascals. This was a great team performance,Man of the match went to Ewan Bailey who was superb in defence with his heading and tackling.

Sutton are now the only team left in the competition from the Craven, Aire & Wharfe League. They now face Pontefract Collieries Juniors in the quarter final match to be played on Sunday 5th February. Details of the Pontefract club who play in the Selby & District League can be found here

                                                  WELL DONE LADS

U10s Rogues v Bingley Boca
A winning start to the New Year!
U10 Rogues started the New Year with an impressive victory over Bingley Boca to remain top of the league.
A cracking early goal from Max Dyson settled the lads down and they played some excellent football going in to half time 4-0 up.
The second half was just as exciting with all the boys relentlessly chasing the ball in pursuit of more goals with the final score being 9-0.
This left the parents in a very difficult position in making the parents' player choice with every player passing and moving well — it was a real team performance with some superb football being played by them all.
The goals came from Max Dyson (2), Nathan Dickinson (2), Joel Phillip (2), Johnny Thompson (2) and Zak Swindlehurst.
Parents player deservedly went to Joel Phillip with Zak Swindlehurst being picked Man of the Match.
Well done lads.

PostHeaderIcon u10's fell Oakworth

The Under 10's A team continued their winning ways on sunday against Oakworths A team. Oakworth started the better and deservedly took the lead when a deflected shot looped over the Sutton keeper, Elliot Wilson. This seemed to wake Sutton up and from then on they dominated the game.
The equalizer came towards the end of the first half when midfielder Ben Darkins hit a left-footed shot from distance. Sutton continued to dominate the game with Stanley Carr finishing off an excellent move.  Joel Livock added a third which was just reward for tireless work throughout the game. Sutton could and should have added a few more goals but the finishing was not up to its usual standards.
Full back John Greenwood was parents man of the match for a solid consistent performance and Joel Livock was coaches man of the match for a tireless display.
Final score Sutton 3 Oakworth 1
