Sunday 18th October

Game four of the season.

What can i say. Talk about edge of the seat football. All those watching were entertained for 60 mins with some great football from both teams.

The game kicked off with Sutton playing down hill in the first half.

There was so much going on that i just cannot pick out everything. The game moved at a cracking pace. A pace even those parents watching who play football would not keep up with.

We used the slope to our advantage and took the lead with a well worked goal from WILLIAM cutting in from the left hand side and slotting the ball home mid way through the first half.

Not too later WILLIAM and JOE WHITLOCK worked well together for WILLIAM to get his second of the game.

The game should have been made safe in the first half with several mazy runs from JOE W but several half chances went begging. Due to the slope the ball ran on and on.

Idle got a goal back with some neat football cutting in from the right and slotting the ball home from just outside the box.

Half time Idle 1 v Sutton 2

The second half was as fast as the first and this time the boot was on the other foot and Idle went close on a number of occasions. LOUIS did well as did the defence and kept us in the game.

The slope was taking its toll on the legs and Idle finally got the break through they were looking for. A loose ball just outside the box was poked into the net from close range.

The last ten minutes were unbearable, both sides came close, JOE WHITLOCK once again working very hard nipped in on a couple of occasions but was unlucky not to score.

The last 15 seconds and we could have got all three points SAM made an amazing run from the left. He cut across the front of the box, was pushed wide by the keeper ( literally .) He then pulled the ball back across the front of the goal
where several people had a stab at the ball, the defenders missed it, the keeper missed it and the JOE DEARNLEY`S last touch saw the ball dribble over the line wide of the far post.

The whistle blew then everyone began to breath once more.

What a game to watch.

Final Score 2 - 2
