PostHeaderIcon Sutton Rogues U7's 3 Burley 1

After getting beat 11-0 by Burley 6 weeks previous it was the reverse fixture at a very cold Sutton Park this morning. After going 1 nil down the boys kept their heads and never gave in and showed what they have achieved over the last few months and played as a team. We came away with our first win of the season and was just reward for every single boy for giving 110%. We won 3-1 with goals from Ben Middleton, Charlie Best and the third from my man of the match Henry Wade. Opposition man of the match went to Max Hudson in the Sutton goal on a great performance which he is producing week in week out. Kyle Wilson and Ben Middleton covered ever blade of grass as always but also a special mention to Jacob Forrest on some last gasp defending. Proud of you all. Well done boys you deserve this win!!!

PostHeaderIcon U7 Rebels v Craven Dynamo's

Sutton Rebels entertained Craven Dynamo’s who had made the trip down from Ingleton for our second league game of the season in the Dales Friendly League. Two very evenly matched teams contested a hard fought League game in excellent conditions.

In game 1 which was our all-important league game we ran out 2-1 winners. Our goals came from the prolific Lewis Mackenzie and Charlie Best who both had outstanding games linking up really well. This  assisted us greatly during sustained periods of pressure from our visitors. Moment of the match for me was when Alex Gregory released Lewis Mackenzie with a sublime pass on half way. Lewis unleashed a cracking shot which was brilliantly turned around the post by a young lady in the visitors goal called Ezmi. For a minute I forgot this was under 7 football. Superb! Adam Edwards continued his fine form and was as solid and reliable as ever at the back.

A special mention goes to Louis Jones who enjoyed an excellent debut for the Rebels making some really important tackles. Louis just pipped Lewis and Charlie to man of the match for his act of sportsmanship when he volunteered to play for Craven who went down to 6 players due to injury during our second game. Well done Louis. This did come back to bite me however as Louis continued his fine debut netting for our visitors during our second game as they ran out 2-0 winners! Thank goodness this one was a friendly.

Thanks to our visitors and all friends and family who came to support the boys and girls.

Finally a big well done to all the players for their effort and commitment.

PostHeaderIcon U7's Kick off in Dales Friendly League

Sutton Rebels entertained Embsay today (06/10/12) for their eagerly awaited
first game of the season in the Dales friendly League.

The sun shone for a change after a week of torrential train as two very well
matched teams went toe to toe for a good old fashioned slug in the mud!

Game 1: In game one which was a league game, after a tense first half the teams
were deadlocked 0-0 at the break. In the second half the game erupted into
life. Sutton raced in to a 2 goal lead with well taken goals by Matty Boast and
Lewis MacKenzie but that was as good as it got for the home team. Embsay
stormed back with 3 excellent second half goals of the their own giving a final
score line of Sutton Rebels 2 - 3 Embsay.

Game 2: The Rebels quickly shrugged off the disappointment of losing their
season opener as they sprang into life during their second game. A Matty Boast
inspired performance assisted by the impressive debutant, Lewis Mackenzie
resulted in a final score line of Sutton 4 - 0 Embsay. Scorers were Lewis
Mackenzie (2), Matty Boast and Ellis Farrell. A special mention also goes to
Oliver Dawson for a courageous and committed debut. He will never forget this
one having to leave the pitch with a bloodied nose having received an
accidental stray elbow! Well done Oliver.

Two very entertaining games with some fantastic effort from all players was
enjoyed by a good crowd who all encouraged the boys and girls in the true
spirit of the game.

Thank you to our opposition, Embsay particularly Paul who helped us set up the
goals. Practice makes perfect as they say!

PostHeaderIcon Sutton Rogues U7's V Baildon Dynamos

After Baildons opening day 19-0 win against Keighley i was feeling the worst against our new team.
The game kicked off in awful conditions and saw us go down 5 - 0, but 2 goals from Joseph McCormack saw the Rogues come back into the game in which we became the stronger team in the third quarter.
But three more goals came from Baildon to make the final score 8 - 2.

Man of the Match went to Joseph McCormack for his two goals but also for his excellent tackling.

Special mentions to Max Hudson in goal who made some great saves and also nearly scored when he played out field for one quarter. Charlie Best on another great all round performance, keep going Charlie!!
Well done to all the boys for never giving in and kept going until the final whistle.

Next match for us is Keighley Shamrocks next Sunday at Sutton Park.

The first game of our season saw us travel over to Guiseley to start our campaign in the Keybury Red League. A late Guiseley goal  resulted in a 4-3 defeat but the all the boys put in a really good performance.
Goals came from Charlie Best, Jenson Brame and a Guiseley own goal. Man of the Match also went to Charlie Best on a great all round performance.
