PostHeaderIcon SUTTON U11A BACK ON TRACK

After what was hopefully a minor blip last week the Sutton team returned to winning ways. The performance from all of the boys was much better than the previous week. The team faced a Thackley team for the second time this season. The opening 15 minutes was fairly even with some of the Thackley players being sharper to the ball. However, the Sutton players started to work hard at closing them down which resulted in them going 3-0 up at half-time. The good work rate from all of the players continued in the second half which resulted in a very dominant half from the Sutton boys. This resulted in a very comfortable win. This was a much better performance from the whole team which demonstrates what they can achieve if they all work for each other. Well done to everyone. Team: Elliot Wilson, Jonno Day, John Greenwood, Oliver Grundy, Sam Thornton, Zak Swindlehurst, Stanley Carr, Nathan Dickinson, Joel Livock, Ben Darkins. A lacklustre performance from the team resulted in the boys losing for the first time in the league in 20 months.
The team did not play well in the game with far too many players under performing. What was disappointing was the lack of work rate from some of the players. Far too many players were just walking back after an attack instead of chasing back, which was putting the team in trouble.
However a few players did work hard and the team did create enough chances to win the game, which on another day would have gone in.
The boys lost the game 3-1 and the Wilsden managers celebrated as if they had won the world cup! Incentive enough to beat them in the return fixture.
The boys need to pick their heads up and move on from this as they are much better than what they showed on sunday.

U11 A TEAM THRASH UNBEATEN THACKLEY
Going into this game both teams had won all of their games so something had to give. Thackley started the game well and went 1-0 up in the first few minutes. However, this just sparked the Sutton team into life. The boys shut the Thackley players down quickly and were always sharper to the ball. All of the training seemed to have paid off as the Sutton boys completely dominated possession with some excellent passing. The boys had turned a 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 lead by half-time and for all sense and purposes it was game over. Sutton dominated the second half adding 3 more goal and hitting the woodwork three times (it could and maybe should have been alot more). Thackley scored 2 break away goals as consolations. This now takes the boys unbeaten run to 20 consecutive games in the Craven league a stat they should all be very proud off.
Final score Sutton 7 Thackley 3 (Scorers - Nathan 2, Stanley 2, Ben, Sam, Oliver)
Team - Elliott Wilson, Jonno Day, John Greenwood, Oliver Grundy, Ben Darkins, Joel Livock, Sam Thornton, Stanley Carr, Nathan Dickinson, Zak Swindlehurst.

The U11s A team continued their 100% win record with a hard fought 6-3 win over Albion. On what was an extremely boggy pitch the team dominated possession in the first half. The boys went into the break comfortably 3-0 up, although the Sutton keeper, Elliott Wilson, made two great saves in the first half.
In the first 10 minutes of the second half the team just did not turn up as Albion dominated the game. Albion deservedly made it 3-3 with the Sutton boys not knowing what had hit them. This spurred the Albion boys on and the game became very physical as tackles were flying in from both teams. However, the Sutton boys managed to compose themselves for the last 15 minutes of the match scoring 3 goals as the game fizzled out into what ended up as a comfortable win.
This now extends their unbeaten run to 19 matches in the craven league.
Team - Elliott Wilson, John Greenwood, Jonno Day, Oliver Grundy, Joel Livock, Ben Darkins, Sam Thornton, Zak Swindlehurst, Stanley Carr, Nathan Dickinson.
Scorers - Ben Darkins 2, Nathan Dickinson 2, Sam Thornton, Stanley Carr
Player M-O-M went to full back Jonno Day for his ferocious tackling, and Ben Darkins was awarded the M-O-M by both the Sutton and Albion Managers for his 2 goals and 4 assists.
Well done everyone.

PostHeaderIcon ANOTHER DOMINANT DISPLAY BY THE U11 A TEAM

For their third game of the season the U11 team faced a trip to play Campion. Again the team were slow to get going (maybe put off by Campions 6ft 9 year old!). Despite this the boys went into half time with a 2-0 lead. The beginning of the second half looked like it would be a decent game between the two teams but quickly fizzled out into a very comfortable victory for the Sutton team, running out 8-2 winners. Again the team looks very good when they pass the ball quickly, the only disappointing aspect of the game is that they did not keep a clean sheet. However the team has now played 3 games, won 3, scoring 22 goals and conceeding just 2. Well done to everyone.
Scorers - Sam Thornton 3, Stanley Carr 2, Zak Swindlehurst 2, Nathan Dickinson.
Players m-o-m was Zak Swindlehurst, and Sam Thornton was awarded M-o-m by both managers.
