Under 13's 3 - 2 Burley

Sutton were dissapointed after last weeks loss to local rivals Silsden and were looking to get back to winning ways. Both teams looked strong in the first few minutes and both had chances to go ahead before Suttons Charlie Rhodes put the yellows ahead with an excellent strike that gave the Burley keeper no chance.

What a great match we saw today. We played our 3rd match of the season, away at Long Lee and were still awaiting our 1st win of the season. The squad was anticipating a hard game as previous results for Long Lee showed them as a high scoring team netting 10 last week against Silsden.
Sutton started confidently, keeping the ball in the opponents half for the majority of play before we saw the first goal. It was Sutton who took the lead with the leading scorer Jacko playing as the lone striker hitting the back of the net.
Long Lee came back into the game and equalised a few minutes later after a good passing move.
Sutton didn't let that stop them playing some nice football, passing moves were developing well and led to a good attacking move which saw the enthusiastic Joesph Horsfall smash home into an empty net after the Long Lee keeper was caught off his line.
Shortly afterwards Sutton were caught out at the back and allowed Long Lee another equaliser that should have been dealt with a little more dicisively by the defense.
It was seesaw of a match, with attacks going both ways before Sutton took the lead again, this time Lewis Rushton was the one to hit the ball into the empty goal, following up well after good work from Charlie Rhodes who had committed the keeper out of his goal with a good effort on goal.
The match continued to be played end to end as both teams looked fr further goals. It was another defensive error that led to Long Lee equalising for the 3rd time in the match.
Long Lee had an attempt at goal with the Sutton keeper off his line but the ever improving Conner was back on the line to head clear what looked certain to be a goal.
After half time both teams set abut taking the lead again. Both keepers were kept busy with Sutton keeper Joel again keeping his side in the game with outstanding saves at the feet of the attackers.
Sutton were pushing forward with the advantage of the downhill slope and after some good build up play it was Jacko that produced one of his 'Specials' from the edge of the area, he struck a beauty that sailed over the keeper into the top corner of the goal.

This was followed soon after by the best goal of the game. Fantastic passing got Sutton up to the edge of the area when Jacko picked out a pass to set up Charlie Rhodes who didn't hesitate in taking his chance driving the ball passed the keeper and into the net.
With 15 minutes still to play it was going to be a nailbiting time as supporters waited for the final whistle to blow and confirm our first win of the season.

This was a very good effort by all the team and a well deserved victory.

We now look forward to next week and a local derby against Silsden.
